Hagman Stajan - Andy Mead Icon SMI

Anaheim Ducks

Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf have both reached the 50-point mark this week. However, since reaching 50 points, Perry hasn’t registered a point in his last two games. Getzlaf recorded an assist Friday against the Lightning. Jean-Sebastien Giguere got a start this week against the Capitals, but recorded his seventh straight loss allowing five goals. Giguere has been sent to the Maple Leafs in a trade for Jason Blake and Vesa Toskala.Toskala hasn’t had a fantastic season this year with just a 7-12-3 record, but maybe a change of scenery can provide fantasy owners with a decent back-up option.

Calgary Flames

Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman, Ian White and Jamal Mayers  have all been traded to the Flames. Hagman is no doubt the top fantasy option of the names listed. He has only 33 points in 55 games, but has scored 20 goals and could bring some life back into a struggling Flames team. The trade also sent Dion Phaneuf to the Maple Leafs. Phaneuf hasn’t really produced much this year with just 22 points in 55 games. Jarome Iginla had a big game against the Oilers on Saturday. He notched two goals, two assists and a fight.

Chicago Blackhawks

Jonathan Toews had a four-game point streak snapped on Saturday against the Hurricanes. He now has 44 points in 49 games. Marian Hossa’s point streak is up to three games now with a goal and an assist against the Hurricanes. This could finally be the year that Hossa makes it to the Stanley Cup Finals and is on the winning team. Cristobal Huet picked up two wins this year including a tough overtime win against the Sharks. Huet has 24 wins on the season with a 2.31 GAA.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche have new goal leaders. Matt Duchene and Chris Stewart are tied for the lead with 17 goals. Duchene picked up a goal and an assist Friday against the Stars. I wouldn’t be looking to pick up either of these guys just yet. Yes, they do lead their team in goals, but it’s most likely due to all of the injuries the Avalanche are facing rather than these players’ fantasy value. Craig Anderson picked up another shutout this week against the Stars.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Kristian Huselius picked up a goal and an assist in his last two games. He is second behind Rick Nash in points. Rick Nash had a moderate week with two assists in three games. Nash has had a much more productive January than he did in December. He appears to be going back to his old goal-scoring ways, which is good news for fantasy owners. Mathieu Garon and Steve Mason each picked up a win this week. However, Mason also dropped two games this week.

Dallas Stars

Alex Auld picked up two wins this week over the Flames and the Avalanche. Auld is not providing Marty Turco with much back-up help. He’s just 9-5-3 with a 2.94 GAA. Jere Lehtinen might return to the lineup for the Stars on Sunday against the Coyotes. Lehtinen has been out since Jan. 16 with a neck injury. Stephane Robidas had two assists Wednesday against the Flames.

Detroit Red Wings

Pavel Datsyuk has six points in his last four games including two goals against the Wild on Wednesday. Jimmy Howard has dropped three of his last four starts. The blame can’t be placed solely on Howard though. He has had to face at least 30 shots the past four games. Henrik Zetterberg broke a three-game pointless streak with two assists against the Coyotes on Tuesday. Tomas Holmstrom is scheduled to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Sharks. Johan Franzen should be returning to the lineup within the next week as well.

Edmonton Oilers

Sam Gagner has four points in his last four games. He has 32 points in 52 games and is second to Dustin Penner in points. Devan Dubnyk got lit up against the Flames on Saturday. He allowed six goals on 30 shots, which gave the Oilers their 13th straight loss. Lubomir Visnovsky is on a seven-game pointless streak. Let’s hope February is a better month for the entire Oilers team. However, at this point I don’t see very much fantasy value in any of the Oilers, unless you are in a super deep league.

Los Angeles Kings

Anze Kopitar has nine points in his current five-game point streak including a goal and an assist Saturday against the Bruins. Jonathan Quick is on a five-game winning streak. Quick has been fantastic in net stopping around 30 shots per game. Jarret Stoll has four points in his last three games including a goal and an assist Tuesday against the Maple Leafs.

Minnesota Wild

Martin Havlat had a six-game point streak snapped on Saturday against the Sharks. Havlat is starting to come around after having a slow start. He’s up to 37 points in 49 games. Andrew Brunettehas six points in his last six games. Josh Harding picked up his first shutout of the season over the Avalanche. However, his very next game he allowed five goals against the Sharks. Harding is replacing the injured Niklas Backstrom, who is out with a back injury.

Nashville Predators

Martin Erat scored a goal and an assist in two of his past three games. He is a four-way tie with J.P. Dumont, Steve Sullivan and Patric Hornqvist for the team lead in points with 33. Pekka Rinne broke a three-game losing streak with a win over the Thrashers on Saturday. Shea Weber snapped a four-game pointless streak with an assist Tuesday against the Blue Jackets.

Phoenix Coyotes

Shane Doan had a huge night against the Red Wings on Tuesday with a goal and three assists. He’s also picked up a goal in each of his past two games and is now up to 17 for the year. Ilya Bryzgalov needed extra time to get his two wins this week. One was a shootout win against the Flames and the other an overtime win over the Red Wings. Bryzgalov has 28 wins on the year with a 2.35 GAA.

San Jose Sharks

Patrick Marleau has 14 points in his past nine games including two goals and an assist over the Wild on Saturday. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 35 shots against the Blackhawks on Thursday, but it was not enough to get the win over their conference rival. Dan Boyle is questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Red Wings. Boyle has missed four straight games with an upper-body injury. Dany Heatleypicked up two assists against the Wild.

St. Louis Blues

Andy McDonald is now on a seven-game point streak. He hasn’t registered any multi-point games in this stretch, but he continues to put pucks in the net or help out with assists. Ty Conklin picked up his third shutout of the year over the Flames last Monday. Paul Kariya is on a six-game goalless streak. He’s managed a couple assists during this streak, but hasn’t been able to put the puck in the net.

Vancouver Canucks

Henrik Sedin had two more one goal and one assist games this week against the Maple Leafs and Sabres. Roberto Luongo is on a six-game winning streak. However, he was pulled Saturday against the Maple Leafs when he allowed three goals on just eight shots. Ryan Kesler has four points in his last two games including three assists against the Blues on Wednesday.
