CBC – Center By Committee. Like the RBBC in the FFL world, we’re now dealing with CBC with the Phoenix Suns. It’s either Robin Lopez or Channing Frye who’s the main man and they’ve been flip flopping like mad. CBCs, you’ve got to stay away from them until one of them emerges. Keep them both on the bench until then.
Waiver Gems
Darren Collison, PG, New Orleans – Oh lawdy lawdy… back-up rookie PG Collison dropped 18 dimes on January 30th breaking the rookie record for most assists in a game. Not even Steve Nash, D-Will or Chris Paul accomplished that feat when they were rookies, which shows Darren is something special. With CP3 out for one to two months, he’s a definite must run and grab candidate. I know its only one game, but got to take a flyer!
Shaq O’Neal, C, Cleveland – My goodness, Father Time has rolled the clock back for Shaq and he’s been playing like a mad-man. Opposing teams have started to double him up again like old times. On Friday, January 29th, Shaquille O'Neal exploded for 22 points, including eight rebounds and two blocks. Got to ride the hot hand!
Mike Miller, G, Washington – It’s interesting to note that Guard Mike Miller has consistently scored in double figures the past week and he’s worth a flyer. In the past week Miller played a hot 39 minutes, scored 15.7 points along with 8.7 rebounds. Solid numbers and if you need a guard, he’s your boy.
Andrei Kirilenko, F, Utah – AK-47 has surged in the past week with 34 minutes played, 18.3 points and 6.3 rebounds plus 2.3 assists. He’s always been a good all around player, just didn’t have the minutes. The 34 minute average is a good indicator that AK-47 could finally be getting the time he needed.
Stephen Curry, PG, Warriors – Curry has continued to solidify his lead for the ROY (Rookie of the Year) with his strong play in the past two weeks, in which he has averaged 22 pts including 2.9 treys, 4.8 rebounds and 7.0 assists. If Curry still available in your pool because of Nellie’s tinkering, go on and grab him for your squad. You won’t be sorry.
Trade Targets
When you trade for a player you always target those that are under performing below their normal standards or injured enough to frustrate a current owner. You’ve got to swoop in like a super-hero and make a trade offer.
Kevin Love, F/C, Minnesota – Center Kevin Love has been delegated to the bench because the coach wanted a “stronger second unit” which is stupid, everyone knows that Kevin Love belongs in the starting line up and it’s only a matter of time that Love will return. Now’s a good time to make a trade offer and be sure to point out that he’s on the bench and that may be enough to pry him off the hands of a disgruntled owner. Go on make an offer!!
Al Harrington, F/C, New York – Veteran AL Harrington has been roller coaster all season and currently is dinged up, but he could be returning any day. It’s worth a shot to make a trade offer, to see if the owner is frustrated enough with Al to trade him away. For the season Al has averaged 17.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists. Those are very solid numbers.
