Rodrigue Beaubois - Icon SMI

It’s interesting to note that the hapless New Jersey Nets have only won three games the entire season! I’m not sure what’s worse watching your beloved Nets lose almost every game, or going through another season without the Seattle Sonics?

Waiver Gems

Anthony Tolliver, C, Golden State – Despite being a back up to the injured Vladimir Radmanovic, Tolliver has been surging with double doubles in his last two games. On January 23rd, he played 37 minutes, scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. It’s worth a gamble to grab this guy and see what happens. You can always drop him later if he doesn’t pan out. Big men who regularly double double are extremely useful. Please also keep in mind Nellie does love to tinker with the line up so who knows.

Marcus Thornton, SG, New Orleans – The trade of Devin Brown to the Bulls, allowed Marcus Thornton to move into the starting line up. Starters are golden and he’s worth a flyer to see how he does with the starting opportunity. Despite the lack of minutes, Thornton has consistently scored in double figures, and he has no place to go but UP!

Kenyon Martin, PF, Denver – Kenyon had a monster game on January 23rd with a huge 47 minutes played, 20 points scored and 14 rebounds pulled down. He’s a solid contributor and it’s worth a look see in your pool and see if he’s still available.

Robin Lopez, C, Phoenix – Made last week’s waiver wire edition on a possible add, however the past week Robin Lopez has been a fantasy beast! Playing like a rare No. 1 center and he’s a definitely a must run and grab candidate. For the past week, Lopez has averaged 28 minutes, 16 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. If he’s still available, grab him and fall to your knees and thank your lucky stars!

Rodrigue Beaubois, PG, Dallas – The rookie has made an impact with Jason Kidd taking a personal day off. I’m not suggesting you run and grab this boy, but he’s worth keeping an eye on. In limited minutes, Beaubois scored 13 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Nice all around stats. It’s very possible that Beaubois’ minutes could increase. He’s someone definitely worth watching.

Drop Bait

This week I will focus on players that you need to drop right away from your teams. This is also known as “Drop Bait”

JR Smith, G, Denver – Drop Bait. In the last few days, JR Smith has been flirting with a possible suspension due to conduct detrimental to the team. It could be a motivational tactic by George Karl, but I have a feeling it’s time to cut ties.

Beno Udrih, PG, Sacramento – Drop Bait. Since the return of Kevin Martin from injury and the emergence of Tyreke Evans, Udrih has lost a significant amount of playing time. He as only scored once in double figures in the last six games. It’s time to cut ties.
